About me

Paul Sanchez started taking private lesson at the age of seven on the piano, which was his first instrument of many. As his skills on the piano grew so did the love for music and wanting to learn more. At eleven he turned to the string family learning both the Viola and the Violin in orchestra and pushed himself to learn more than what was being taught in class. "Paul has always kept an open mind when playing music and that has always been his key"- Saldivar. The next year he picked up the electric bass and guitar just to play with his cousin and well, the rest is history.

Throughout his guitar years Paul has worked to keep an open mind when playing music. Playing styles ranging from classical, contemporary, to funk, soul, pop and rock the one genre that he enjoys is jazz.. He has taken part participating in different ensemble classes/workshops to work on different aspects of music.

In 2010 he received his B.A in Humanities with Emphases in Music from The University of Texas of The Permian Basin. While attending University of Texas of The Permian Basin he studied under classical guitar under the direction of Benito Ramos and Piano with Nyela Basney.  He as also had the privilege of studying under Kevin Gallagher and Dave Weiner.

Master guitar classes he has attended were under direction of under Almar Imamovic of AlmaNova and renowned classical guitarist Nino Palacios. He has also participated in Jazz and Latin percussion ensemble workshop as well as performed with Lalo Davila.

Paul currently resides in the Permian Basin and has been teaching 4th through 8th grade class guitar at St. John's Episcopal School for 13 years. Along with teaching guitar at St.Johns the past 3 years he has worked with grades K- 7th teaching computer & technology class where they study the understanding of learning, basics of computer, coding, productivity software and critical thinking and analysis. Outside of school he instructs students in private guitar lessons, classes and ensembles in his music studio Sound Roads Studio. He also works as adjunct faculty of guitar for The University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Paul also assists with the West Texas Guitar Festival where a community of guitarists promote guitar in the community bringing professionals and students all together. In the fall of 2018 Paul received his M.S in Instructional Design & Technology from Full Sail University. In his spare time he performs in the Apoyando Quartet
